Automation in Hue Essentials.
Note that not all of the features below are supported on every bridge. So if you do not see one of the features in the app your bridge does not support it (currently).
An event will start the automation. For example at a certain time or at sunrise. If using multiple events, any of the events will start the automation.
Events that can be added
Event that will run at either sunset or sunrise. This uses the bridge location to determine whether it is day or night. Days can also be selected.
Event that will run at a configured time. If the repeat option is enabled you can select the days this Automation should repeat on. If the repeat option is disabled this automation will only execute once.
Use this event to be able to start the automation externally. For example, from another automation, smart controls, widgets, quick settings tiles, Siri Shortcuts, other apps like Tasker, or manually using the API.
After saving the automation, the automation can be selected in other places in Hue Essentials.
The automation can also be started manually using the API. This is an advanced feature. See the following: Start an Automation using the API
Event that will run when device state changes to the configured range. For example, start an automation when the temperature changes to above a certain level or when it becomes dark.
Note: This event is only available for certain devices om the devices tab.
Conditions that must all be met for an automation to be able to start. Conditions are optional. When using multiple conditions, they must all be met for the automation to be able to start.
Conditions that can be added:
Use this condition to only execute actions if a group is on or off.
Use this condition to only execute actions from sunset to sunrise or from sunrise to sunset. This uses the bridge location to determine whether it is day or night. Days can also be selected.
Use this condition to only execute actions if it is within a certain time. Days can also be selected.
Use this condition to only execute actions depending on a device state. For example, only execute actions if the temperature is above a certain level or if it is dark.

Actions that can be added:
This action will activate a scene in a group. First create a scene, then you can add this action.
Start an Effect that you created in Hue Essentials in a group. Make sure the effect was saved to the bridge before using this action. See for more information about the effects: How to use the Effect Creator?
Stop any effects created in Hue Essentials that are running on the bridge. Note that this will not stop effects that are running from the phone.
Stop any entertainment programs that are running. This will stop all entertainment programs in all apps. That includes the Hue Essentials programs like Dance Sensation and also other apps like Hue Sync.
Change the color of your group or light. See details for the types below:
Switch on your lights to a selected color and brightness.
This will increase the color temperature by the configured value.
This will decrease the color temperature by the configured value.
This will stop a current color temperature change which is in progress.
Change the brightness of your group or light.
The Switch on toggle can be used to decide whether the lights should switch on. If enabled, lights will always switch on. If disabled, the brightness will only be changed of lights that are already on.

Use this action to either switch on or switch off your lights.
Use this action to blink your lights once.
Use this action to either switch on or switch off a sensor. For example a Hue Motion Sensor. See for more information: Motion sensor activate/deactivate?
The action “cancel motion sensor actions” is intended for those situations when you want to temporarily suppress a motion response when there is no movement. See for more information: How to use “Cancel Motion Sensor Actions”
Use this action to wait between actions. This could be useful if you would like to switch on a light, and switch it off after a configured delay.
