I’ve bought into a Hue (standard) Bridge, four GU10 Essentials bulbs and three E27 Essentials bulbs. The four GU10 are indoors, and the 3 E27 are in outdoor pedestal light fittings.
Despite the Bridge being perfectly central in the house, I kept getting “Unreachable” in both the devices themselves in the app, and as a message in the Software Update section and the Hive app. The message shows for a few second on one of the indoor bulbs and one of the outdoor bulbs, then disappears.
What is odd, is all the bulbs are within 3 or 4 metres of line-of-sight another bulb, or Smart Plug. I was under the assumption that, being Zigbee, these bulbs extend their own networks, but this doesn’t appear to be happening for me.
Things I have done:
1 - Bought 4 Philips Hue Smart Plugs to use as extenders.
2 - Tried the Smart Plugs in different sockets around the house.
3 - Moved the Bridge (three different places)
4 - Tried moving to channel 11 (was channel 25)
None of these additions or changes has stopped these short random “unreachable” messages.
As I simply am not ready to spend more money on Smart Plugs (I neither want nor need more bulbs), is there anything else I should try before giving up and sending to lot back to Amazon for a refund?
