A recent update to the Hue platform appears to have removed the ‘Simple on/off’ capability of Hue Wall Switches and Hue Remotes. Options for ‘Time-based light’ and ‘Single scene’ appear to have been added, but the previous function, which allowed one to power-on a bulb/room/zone using the last selected scene (i.e. the scene that was selected when the bulb was last switched off) appears to be missing.
The Before (update) and After (update) screen grabs demonstrate.
I wonder whether anyone else had experienced this issue?..
I have the exact same issue.
It is not possible to configure and use my wall modules because of that.
Also I wanted to solve the issue using Hue Essentials but my modules are 2 buttons and Hue Essentials is detecting only one button, I don’t know why.
I am quite stuck at the moment.
For the wall switch you need to run the setup in the Hue app and set it up for two buttons, then select the option to configure it in another app. Then try it in Hue Essentials.
Hi Thomas,
I have the exact same issue as Yonif: I have a Philips Hue Wall Switch module connected to a double switch. I ran the setup in the Hue app successfully and at the end I choose ‘Configure in another app’.
However, when I open the wall switch module in the Hue Essentials app, it only shows 1 button instead of 2.
Previously, this worked perfectly. But since a couple of months the Essentials app does not recognize 2 buttons but only 1. I have this problem for all my double switches.
