Hue skill repeatedly disconnecting from Alexa

A few days ago, my Hue skill randomly became disconnected from my Alexa in a span of about 10 minutes & I had to relink my account. Just a few minutes ago, I got another notification that the Hue skill was disconnected on Alexa & my account needed to be relinked… again. In searching the issue, Amazon is saying it’s a Hue issue since it’s their skill. While others complained of this same issue in the last few months on the Amazon forum, it appears it’s not yet been asked here. Does anyone have any insight they can provide?

hI. ufortunately at the moment it is not clear whether it is a hue or amazon problem, or both… to remedy this, unfortunately it seems recommended to also restart the hue bridge, wait for it to be operational, disconnect the skill and reactivate it

I have this issue every couple of months, so not a big deal, but always seems to happen at an inconvenient time - the latest instance I wanted to trigger the turning on of Hue lights via Alexa. I then relink the Hue skill to Alexa and it seems to come on a bit later, although saying all Hue devices are unresponsive.

Is there an alternative where Alexa triggers a service such as IFTTT or Zapier, which in turn triggers the action on the Hue hub? Would this be any better? Is there something I can do in Alexa to make it more robust? Should have a practice of unlinking and relinking the Hue skill once a week or something?

As I said, it’s 1st World problems, but a pain when you’ve spent quite a bit on Hue products and devices such as Echo Dots etc…

My Hue skill disconnects from my Alexa app at least five times a day. I set up a new hub in my vacation home and ever since I did that it has been causing me problems in both homes… The fundamental problem is Hue needs to be able to have two bridges on one account. However in the meantime, I’m about ready to move onto a completely different system because it’s unacceptable to not be able to use the lights every two hours because I have to reconnect the skill otherwise I used to a big fan of you, but I’m about to give up

The problem for me started when I activated a new bridge in a different home. Before that I never had a single problem with Alexa and Philips Hue. I went so far to remove all other bridges, but it has not changed the fact that at least once a day the link expires, and I have to relink the account.

Ya, I’m a bit of a tech.
Likley nearly 90 hue lights, 2 hubs.
All of a sudden, within an hour alexa loses the skill.
I have 7 Alexa’s in the house, im moving now after 8 years to Google home.
Sad, it was a good run.
I have to say, phillips needs to step up to the plate in support.

I’m wondering if you switched to Google. Did it resolve the problem? Thank you

Just my 2 cents.
When you connect Alexa to your Hue account, if you have 2 different bnridges in 2 different houses, you have to chose which one you want to control with Alexa. If you then from Alex try to interact with a lamp whic is connected on the other bridge, your Alexa will be disconneted from your Hue account. It is not the only case when you get disconnected, but I identified this one as one of the several cause, maybe can help someone.
This said, in the last three days my Alexa is disconnected from my Hue account every 10 minutes without any interaction. I’m pretty sure it is a Hue issue but Philips don’t give a shit or, more probably, the people that work there is not skilled enough for the job they are supposed to do.

Exact same issue started 2 days ago. Restarted everything, everything up to date, Alexa skill disconnects minutes after re enabling. Nothing in the setup has changed. Yes, two bridges, but not referencing the second one. This happens with no interaction whatsoever.

Coincidence with Alexa plus rolling out? Sure would be nice if either of these companies gave a flying … and would resolve their technical issues
