@PerryAtlan, does https://hueblog.com/2024/07/01/group-multiple-motion-sensors-directly-in-the-hue-app/#:~:text=“By%20grouping%20several%20motion%20sensors,is%20always%20switched%20on%20properly not provide this functionality?

“By grouping several motion sensors and cameras, they can show the same behaviour”, explains Philips Hue. “This is useful for large or unusually shaped rooms.” For example, I use two sensors in my stairwell – one at the top and one at the bottom of the stairs. No matter which direction you come from, the light is always switched on properly.

Thanks for your advice, that’s the reason why I currently use the “original” Hue App

@PerryAtlan, is it available on the Google Play Store? I solely see https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.philips.lighting.hue2&hl=en_GB. Irrespective, isn’t that article referring to the current application? I recall recently seeing a splash screen detailing this new functionality inside the application after an update.

BTW: the function “Grouping Devices” in the original App works mostly.

@PerryAtlan, have you read what I stated in Dual motion sensors, work in harmony? - #24 by RokeJulianLockhart?

As I already said currently I am using the original Hue App from Signify, because this app works - not as good as wanted, but i does the job.

This is not the Point of my question.

Blockzitat Hello @bif, combining motion sensors as one is on the wish list for future development. I moved your post to this topic which has the same request, see above.
What you could try is configuring both of your motion sensors with the wizard for your single room of lights. Then add the Cancel motion sensor actions to both motion sensors on the motion tab, so that they cancel each other. That could work if you would like them to work together, but I have not tried that yet.

I am currently working on the switches and motion sensors configurations to align them more with the new Automation feature implemented recently. That means that lots of new features will be available. I also am planning to pick up this issue with multiple motion sensors. It is hard for me to give an exact time, but I can assure you that I will fix this soon.

Hi @Bart_van_der_Wurff, still working on it. There will be an update very soon with a new interface and lots of fixes and improvements for the motion sensors. Soon after that I will add support for multiple motion sensors. I have already prepared the code for this but still need to fix the last few things.

since that date no more updates or solution in your APP called “Hue Essentials”

I obviously didn’t write any of that, @PerryAtlan. That’s an entirely different user. Why attribute that to me…?

I adressed Hue Essentials, assuming that this user is the mainmember of the team around “hueessentials” or is the Alias for the whole Team. in my first Post I adressed team and got no answer from any teammember because team is not adressable.
https://community.hueessentials.com/g/Team

Now I assume that the team ist broken as the Project itself seems to be dead!, It seems that the Members of the Team aren’t talking to each other!

You gave some known and therefore “useless” answers regarding the Hue App from Signify which is not hueessentals. Why are you hijacking my question to the developers?

@PerryAtlan, I didn’t provide any answers. I asked a question.

You posted a reply immediately after my last comment asking you something without tagging whoever else you responded to. Obviously I’m going to think you asked me. There’s no “hijacking”, whatever that means. This is absurd - your responses are utterly nonsensical.

Forget that I asked.

your question is already answered

This forum is for the app “Hue essentilals” wich is a completly different App

Thank you, @PerryAtlan. That explains well.

Might I ask well why its absence in Essentials is so problematic when it appears to exist in the other client? Is there a significant advantage to Essentials?

Basically this thread has run dry (like many other HE threads). Getting support of @Thomas is difficult, especially when it doesn’t involve a life or dead issue. I have given up on getting decent support for HE minor bugs - if I have a problem either I find a workaround myself or use another app.

Having said that, I was able to come up with a workaround for the problem discussed here (tested on HE version 4.1.2). In case you are, like me, monitoring this discussion for years already and still haven’t given up on HE, here’s what you can do:

Assuming that you have 2 motion sensors M1 and M2 and one room/group R where you want the light to turn off 1 minute after neither M1 nor M2 has registered any movement…

  1. Open HE and create a new automation: “R Off”
  2. As trigger set “External”, as first action set “Wait for 45s”, as second action set “Turn off group R”, then save
  3. Go to devices, select M1 and remove all existing automations
  4. Add a new “Movement” automation, as first action set “Stop automation R Off”, as second action set whatever you want to turn on R, then save
  5. Add a new “No movement” automation with the lowest delay possible (15s it seems), as first action set “Stop automation R Off”, as second action set “Start automation R Off”, then save
  6. Do 3, 4 and 5 for M2

Theoretically it doesn’t seem 100% bullet proof but I haven’t run into any issues so far. Let me (us) know about your experiences and if you have any improvement suggestions.
