I recently purchased 4 Philips Hue White A19/E23 and 2 Philips Hue B39/E12 smart lightbulbs. I connected to most of them using Alexa (Amazon Echo). Of the A19/E23 bulbs 1 was inside the house, while 3 were exterior placed inside lamp lights (2 front/1 backyard patio). Unfortunately the last lightbulb, for the backyard patio cannot be located and connected to by Alexa. So I ran some tests to try and determine the cause:
- Test #1: Bad lightbulb? - I swapped the working/connected interior bulb with the exterior bulb, removing the interior bulb from Alexa devices before asking her to locate them. Alexa found the interior bulb, but failed to locate the swapped exterior bulb. Proving, it wasn’t a problem with the bulb.
- Test #2: Range? - I moved the Amazon Echo downstairs near the patio and attempted to locate devices. As I recall, it succeeded… but then showed as disconnected. I tried removing and setting up again, but now it couldn’t locate it anymore.
I’m curious whether the issue was with the Amazon Echo, or the wireless router. Or something else. Does anyone have any ideas of suggestions?
