4-inch canless recessed option

Hi Hue Team — Im loving hue now that im a first time homeowner and going all out, but I have a whole area that I can’t seem to solve—a 4-inch canless (wafer-style) recessed downlight that’s compatible with the dimmer switch.

I wish hue made this light, and no one else does that also is compatible w the dimmer.

Homebuilders and electricians in the U.S. are increasingly standardizing on 4‑inch recessed housings, especially in kitchens, hallways, and closets. A true 4‑inch Hue “wafer” option (in both White Ambiance and Color Ambiance) would be a perfect, slim retrofit solution.

I’d love to see this product in your lineup. If enough users ask for it, I hope you’ll consider developing one. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help support this idea—feedback, beta testing, or amplification on social media.

+1 my whole house recently built had 4” slim downlighting. I want to upgrade to hue but will have to cut the ceiling holes to 6” to do it. Not ideal, a 4” option would be huge!

Another +1. I just ordered a set of Nanoleaf RGB downlights; I had been doing my research, and decided on going with Hue before realizing their 4" version was only available for retrofit installation. I didn’t want Nanoleaf, but unfortunately they were the only other option that met my requirements.

I went with the Govee 4inch lights. They’re sub par — don’t match the color i want, and blink when other power is turned on in the kitchen. Will check out the nanoleaf, but really want hue of course!

Another +1 here! So upset Hue is not offering a 4” RGB wafer design that DOESN’T require a retrofit / can, makes zero sense!

Not sure why they opted to offer this on the 6” model which is not that popular for homes, bedrooms, etc…and leave out the 4” version. Seems like it can be done, so why skip a size in the line up?

@Philips Hue team - I’ve been literally holding off my renovation project hoping you will finally release these! Trying to hold off and avoid going with another company for my entire setup but you aren’t leaving me too much choice here! Is there any update you can share? Like are you actively working on this, will we see this in the next year, or should we just move on from this idea? It would be nice to know if we should wait it out or simply move on. Thank you!
